Mick (Malcolm McDowell) and three other public schoolboys rebel against the oppression of their school, the whips, the headmaster, and their environment. Director Anderson, admits much inspiration for the film came from Zero de Conduite (1933) by Jean Vigo. The screenplay by David Sherwin was based on his book ‘Crusaders’ that he co-wrote with John Howlett. The music was by Marc Wilkinson, while the additional and haunting 'Sanctus' was from Missa Luba.
